Ubisoft, the French gaming company, has recently undertaken employee layoffs, with the Montreal studio (known for Assassin’s Creed) being particularly affected, resulting in the reduction of 98 positions.
Overall, Ubisoft is implementing a global restructuring initiative, leading to the elimination of 124 jobs. The affected roles include those in administration, IT, and Ubisoft’s IT and SFX teams. This move aims to streamline operations and improve the overall efficiency of the company. Importantly, the restructuring will not affect production teams.
According to the company:
“These are not decisions taken lightly and we are providing comprehensive support for our colleagues who will be leaving Ubisoft during this transition. We also want to share our utmost gratitude and respect for their many contributions to the company. This restructuring does not affect our production teams.”
