Xbox One S All-Digital Edition launches August 1 in Australia
No discs
Also known as the Xbox One SAD, the console is currently only $20 cheaper than the regular disc-drive toting Xbox One S. It will retail for AU$349 and is available for pre-order now.
That price also includes a free copy of Minecraft, Sea Of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3 (not 4 for some weird reason).
You can also probably get a month-or-so of Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass for free if you’re new to Xbox.
On sale the price difference between the S and SAD will hopefully increase, but it is still a weird proposition from Microsoft. For people waiting this long in the generation to buy a console it means you won’t be able to pick up usually cheaper physical games. And while discs are a thing of the past, it does lock you out of the pre-owned market, which means the $20 saving compared to the S won’t last too long if you’re budget-minded.
