Amazon Australia is finally actually live. Amazon Prime is apparently coming soon, digital storefronts like Amazon Video and Amazon Music are currently missing and it’s still a little buggy, but you can finally buy things and have them delivered. Items will ship from Dandenong South in Melbourne.
So far, as well as general consumer goods, Amazon are selling their own ‘Basics’ electronics line, alongside the existing Kindle range. A Fire TV stick is also listed in the Amazon mobile app, but currently still redirects users to the homepage. Other Amazon products, such as the Fire HD tablets, are also missing. Presumably this was the style of soft-launch that was first anticipated to happen on Black Friday. Better late than never.
