Flashes gives us a federated Instagram from its golden era
Flashes, a new app powered by Bluesky, is surprisingly polished for a Testflight release. The app takes your Bluesky feed and gives it the appearance of classic Instagram - a reverse-chronological feed of images from people you follow. There are profile pages, search, notifications and even trending topics.
If you wanted to, you could theoretically create a feed filled with just friends and see all their photos shared there.
I really recommend giving it a try and providing feedback here, especially as Instagram continues to enshittify with a racist algorithm that pushes horrible content onto its users.
