Oh No!! 😢 DeepSeek might be stealing IP from OpenAI models 🤯 which is not fair 😡
DeepSeek is apparently not being very ethical when it comes to AI! Not only has the company created its own model by allegedly using closed-source OpenAI outputs to create an open-source alternative, but it is also copying IP from the company. The horror!
Both OpenAI and President Donald Trump's AI expert and VC sicko David Sacks agree that it looks like the model is copying OpenAI, which is very wrong because stealing IP is bad!
And the worst part? It's not stealing IP in the very pure American ethical way 😡. But instead in an evil Copyright-appropriating way that only China could! China is unique in that it doesn't value Copyright laws, unlike American AI companies which very ethically steal content from pirated eBooks and the Copyright-free internet.

Distillation is a common practice in the industry but the concern was that DeepSeek may be doing it to build its own rival model, which is a breach of OpenAI’s terms of service.
“The issue is when you [take it out of the platform and] are doing it to create your own model for your own purposes,” said one person close to OpenAI.
OpenAI declined to comment further or provide details of its evidence. Its terms of service state users cannot “copy” any of its services or “use output to develop models that compete with OpenAI”.

Earlier, President Donald Trump’s AI and crypto tsar David Sacks said “it is possible” that IP theft had occurred.
“There’s a technique in AI called distillation . . . when one model learns from another model [and] kind of sucks the knowledge out of the parent model,” Sacks told Fox News on Tuesday.“And there’s substantial evidence that what DeepSeek did here is they distilled the knowledge out of OpenAI models, and I don’t think OpenAI is very happy about this,” Sacks added, although he did not provide evidence.
I look forward to seeing evidence from OpenAI and David Sacks. But until then, please don't give your valuable data, like "How do I write an email," to DeepSeek. Throw out your Huawei phone! And please return to the American ethical principles of stealing Copyrighted materials and secretly spying on people through their smart devices.
