The Outline sacks some staff writers, devs
“This news is not fun”
The Outline, Joshua Topolsky’s niche digital culture publication, has sacked 6 staffers today, including remaining staff writers Paris Martineau and Ann-Derrick Gaillot. The website finished a US$5 million funding round in May this year and will move from its current office to a WeWork space.
In a previous round of lay-offs, Topolsky described sacked writers as “underperforming employees,” before later apologising. With today’s layoffs in mind, The Outline’s problems clearly are more to do with staff higher up, including Topolsky, rather than anyone else deemed to be “underperforming”.
